Nihon Kohden America signs three-year purchasing agreement with Broadlane
November 13, 2002
FOOTHILL RANCH, CA and SAN FRANCISCO, CA - Broadlane Inc., a leading provider of total cost management services to the health-care industry, and Nihon Kohden America Inc., a recognized leader in the field of computerized electroencephalography (EEG), evoke response, electromyography (EMG) and sleep assessment, today announced the signing of a three-year purchasing agreement.
The three-year agreement is effective as of Dec. 1, 2002.
The agreement provides Broadlane customers with access to Nihon Kohden's full line of neurodiagnostic and sleep assessment instrumentation.
Specific products covered by this agreement include the Neurofax digital EEG system, which is designed to meet the most sophisticated neurodiagnostic and polysomnography testing requirements, the Neuropack EP/EMG measuring system, and the Polysmith(TM) sleep lab system for sleep assessment.
Kazuo Ogino, president and chief executive officer of Nihon Kohden Corp., commented: "Nihon Kohden America has maintained a contractual procurement agreement with Broadlane since February 1998. We are extremely pleased that Broadlane has decided, after an intensive review, to place its trust in Nihon Kohden America once again.
"This contract award is a testament to our commitment to customer service and product support, and to the value of our products. I am especially pleased that Broadlane has chosen to provide its customers with our full line of neurodiagnostic instrumentation. We feel that we offer the most comprehensive product line-up in the industry."
Nihon Kohden was awarded the contract as part of Broadlane's intensive contract selection process, which focuses on delivering high-quality, cost-effective products and services to Broadlane's health-care provider customers.
To ensure that it selects the best products and vendors for its customers, Broadlane solicits input and direction from key end users, such as physicians and nurses, as well as hospital business leaders.
Suppliers find particular value in contracting with Broadlane because of the company's strategy of involving clinical end users from the beginning of the contracting process. That means that buyers ultimately have a much deeper commitment to the contracts than is typical.
"Our selection process used to determine contract awards is one of the most rigorous in the industry," said Bill Thomas, head of the capital equipment and non-medical groups of Broadlane's contracting services department. "User groups composed of physicians, technicians, service and administrative personnel participate cooperatively in the review and decision process.
"Providing the best health-care solutions to our customers at the most affordable prices -- with full life cycle cost considerations built in -- provides the services our customers need and have come to expect."
