October 30, 2001
TOKYO, JAPAN - On October 19, 2001, Nihon Kohden received ISO 14001 certification, the internationally recognized standard for environmental management systems.
ISO 14001 represents the ISO's (International Standards Organization) commitment to support sustainable development by giving companies the tools to assess and control the environmental impact of their activities, products or services.
At Nihon Kohden, the sites to receive certification are our Tomioka factory and domestic service companies, four facilities which handle manufacture, service (repair and maintenance) and distribution of medical electronic equipment, and manufacture and distribution of reagents.
In addition to certification, we have special working groups focusing on reduction of energy and resource consumption, green procurement, 3R (Reuse, Reduce, Recycle), reduction of toxic materials, environment friendly acrylic materials, environment friendly packaging, rechargeable battery collection, Life Cycle Assessment and lead-free and halogen-free products.
Nihon Kohden is making every possible effort to ensure that the actions of the company and employees contribute to preserving the environment. ISO 14001 certification is a direct result of our progress in this area.
