TOKYO, JAPAN - The Nihon Kohden Group announced today that it will establish a framework for increasing production of the NKV-330 ventilator at the Tomioka Production Center (Tomioka City, Gunma Prefecture) to meet the needs of hospitals in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Company aims to supply 1,000 units of NKV-330 in the next 6 months in cooperation with partners such as automobile manufacturers and the Japanese government.

The NPPV (Non-invasive positive pressure ventilation) ventilator NKV-330 was launched in FY2019 as our first in-house ventilator and supplied to medical institutions in Japan and overseas. The Company also imports ventilators manufactured by HAMILTON MEDICAL AG (Switzerland) and supplies them to medical institutions in Japan.

At the Nihon Kohden Group, we are singularly focused on contributing to ending the COVID-19 pandemic with our medical products, and we have been committed to aiding healthcare professionals in fighting this pandemic since it began.

  • NKV-330 is a mask-type ventilator for NPPV indication patients with spontaneous respiration, and its product specifications allow it to be connected to an endotracheal tube when the doctor instructs. Nihon Kohden hopes that the ventilators currently owned by medical institutions in Japan will be used for patients with severe conditions of COVID-19 as the Company will increase production of NKV-330 for use with patients with mild conditions.
